Superfood Moringa Soup which can fix a number of deficiencies


As the weather turns colder, the need for a strong immunity calls for some healthy indulgence and what can be better than indulging in a hearty and nutritious Drumstick leaf soup, which can be made in just a few minutes.


Drumstick also known as Moringa has been a quintessential part of the Indian cuisine and much like the sticks, the leaves of this plant are equally nutritious and can help boost immunity and fix several deficiencies.


Loaded with vitamins such as A, C, and B6, minerals like calcium, iron, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus and antioxidants like beta-carotene and quercetin to name a few. Moreover, this soup can fix anemia, iron deficiency, calcium deficiency and also helps in better insulin and weight management etc.


1 ½ cups drumstick leaves, ½ tsp jeera, ½ tsp black peppercorns, 4 garlic cloves, 1 medium onion, 1 green chili, 1 tomato, 2 cups water, salt to taste, 1 tsp ghee/oil.


To begin with this easy recipe, wash the drumstick leaves thoroughly under running water and then soak them for sometime, strain the water and keep the leaves aside.


Next, take a mortar pestle and crush peppercorns and cumin seeds nicely. Similarly, add chopped garlic and green chili, mince it a bit.

Now, take a pan and add in oil/ghee, once it turns the oil turns warm add in the cumin and pepper mix followed by onions and minced garlic. Saute it well.


To this add in tomatoes and washed leaves, cook for some time without covering the lid.
